* U.S. Pontificates on Genocide
So—the U.S. House of Representatives wants to "declare" the "slaughter" of Armenians by the Turks during WWI "genocide." Gee, that was less than a score of years after the Wounded Knee massacre. I don't care how many times "our government" has apologized for its own attempts at genocide; "we" shouldn't be allowed, even today, such a facile moral high ground.

Let's also keep in mind the Balkan Wars of the 90's... Apparently, as long as NATO is involved to back our asses up, it's "ok" to slander death tolls and label (only) the Serbs as "ethnic-cleansers." From what I've read in the non-NATO affiliated European press, the Croats, Serbs, and Albanians were all killing EACH OTHER (this not even including the hundreds killed by NATO air strikes...). I've read one too many comparisons of Milosevic to Hitler by the Western media, and I'd like to know, just as you would, how the U.S. government gets off on accusing others of genocide when we (white colonizers/slave owners/"Separate But Equal"-ers, that is) are the ones with blood on our hands.
*By the way, the U.S. is still very much involved in formerly-Yugoslavia politics, and apparently, we not only have the right to TAKE homeland (i.e. the Indians), we also have the authority to GRANT homeland (i.e. forcing Serbs to buy a passport in order to visit their cultural/religious mecca, KOSOVO).
I don't blame the Serbs for trying to burn down the U.S. Embassy (2-21-08), but now unfortunately, for the second time in the last 100 years (WWI: Serb assassination of Franz Ferdinand), the Serbians will be labeled as terrorists. Food for thought: we all know what this country does about "terrorists" these days...
